The race format will be a time trial with at least two mid-route check points. Each rider will have their own start time.

Start and Race Procedures:
The rider must assume all responsibilities for his or her actions during the event. They are also participating at their own risk. Medical insurance is the sole responsibility of the competitor. Vespacross Colorado, its board or its members, those that are promoting and organizing this event, as well as all volunteers or paid event staff are not liable for any injuries or damages.
This event is for scooters and mopeds only. For the purposes of this race, a scooter will be defined as a two-wheeled motorcycle with a step-through frame. A moped will be defined as a gasoline-powered motor-assisted bicycle. Electric bicycles or motorcycles are not permitted.
All riders must wear a DOT-approved helmet, eye protection, long sleeve shirt, full length pants and shin-high boots. This is for the rider’s safety–anything less, unless approved by the race referee, the rider will not be able to compete.
This race is an “open course” race — meaning that the course is not closed to non-race traffic. There will be non-race traffic on the course. Non-race traffic has the right of way.
Having a valid license plate and vehicle registration is required (from any state). Having only a Colorado OHV registration or permit is not sufficient for this course. The rider must have a valid license or endorsement to operate their vehicle.
It is the rider’s responsibility to know and obey all applicable traffic laws before, during, and following the event. This includes obeying posted speed limits.
Riders must respect and obey all direction and authority of any local, county, or state police officer, forest ranger, or forest district representative.
It is the rider’s responsibility to make sure that their bike is in safe condition. There should be no sharp edges or parts protruding in any way that may cause harm to them or another rider.
It is HIGHLY recommended that the race vehicle is equipped with equipment — such as bash guards — to prevent catastrophic damage from rocks, boulders, ruts, roots, or crashes.
Safety is an important consideration in racing; common sense is a governing factor.
The race referee has the final determination to disallow or disqualify a racer from competing for failing to meet the vehicle or rider safety requirements.
Reckless Riding — No rider may ride in such a manner as to endanger life or limb of other riders, officials or the public. Riders will be disqualified for the reckless operation of their vehicle, including but not limited to the deliberate ramming, blocking or intentional contact with another rider, or for running into an official.
Riders may not carry gasoline anywhere except inside the machine’s fuel tank. Aftermarket fuel tanks are permitted; auxiliary fuel tanks are not permitted. If you expect to need additional fuel, coordinate with race officials to facilitate a fuel stop for you.
All vehicles must have silencers, sound level cannot exceed 98 dB/A.
All vehicles must have a working kill switch.
When approaching a slower rider let them know you are there so they can move over and let you pass. Do not expect them to move over right away. Always pass with caution.
If you see an injured rider, see if you can help. Report it to the closest race official.
If you break down on the trail, try to get yourself and your scooter in a safe position that would avoid obstructing other riders or traffic.
If you miss a turn or feel that you are lost, take caution when stopping or turning around. Avoid riding backwards on the course. Follow course markers or arrows. If a rider leaves the course for any reason they must re-enter where they left the course.
The rider is responsible for the actions of their pit crew.
All pets are to be on a leash.
Marking, cutting, tampering with or otherwise changing the course in any manner is strictly prohibited. Course modifications may only be made by an official.
You must finish on the same bike you started.
Once results have been posted, you will have 30 minutes to file a protest.
There are no refunds
