What would it take to ride scooters across the country from Mexico to Canada on the Continental Divide? 

This was the question that started it all.  Sure, we had seen the likes of VespacrossItalia and SIP Scootershop’s “Matscho Karatscho” on the internet.  And we’d also seen and read stories of Vespas competing in long desert rallies like Dakar or Pharaons.  But trail riding Vespa scooters over long distances at extreme elevations…? Not so much.  

Not at all, actually.  But as we started to turn classic-looking Vespas into off-highway vehicles we quickly found out that this has the potential to be so much more than just a crazy idea and we needed to share it.

Freedom

Scooters allow riders to experience a special kind of freedom.  For some it unlocks mobility, for others capacity.  Throughout the last 80 years though, it’s undeniable that Vespa is a key that unlocks previously-unimaginable possibilities.  From post-WWII Europe, to the subcultures of the UK, to the expansion of scooters to the corners of the world, one thing is for certain: Vespa is an enabler.  Vespacross is not unique in this regard either.  What were supposed to be test rides quickly turned into a means of exploring and experiencing our breathtakingly beautiful planet in a whole new way.  Vespa was the key to this new door of adventure.

Adventure

All of us are conditioned to believe that certain things just aren’t possible, or that to be successful one must be outfitted in a certain way.  Yet that way of thinking is not how boundaries are pushed and new thresholds crossed.  It takes courage to step beyond the normal.  

Scooters have a reputation of always being the wrong vehicle to choose for nearly every circumstance, but Vespacross Colorado believes they are the perfect vehicle for ours.  Vespa is fueled with a gallon of excitement mixed with 2% of uncertainty — they can’t help but exhaust adventure. Those feelings when combined propel us to new experiences, cracking open doorways that we realize were only there in our minds from the beginning.  

These boundaries around Vespa exist even among those who ride them, but Vespacross Colorado wants to push there too.

Passion

Adventures into new frontiers soon percolate as pure passion takes hold.  Questions start being asked about how one can make what was once impossible into an everyday occurrence.  This passion leaks from one person to the next while ideas are shared and developed.  

It is the same passion that drives some on a quest for speed and others to the mountain tops.  Vespacross Colorado wants to take you to the tops of mountains.

Vespacross is still at its very infancy, but we believe that it’s infectious.  We believe that Vespacross Colorado can move boundaries, reshape our world, and help shape the Vespa industry.  And we believe that when that happens, all will see that it was only ourselves standing in the way.
